With festival season heating up, we’ve asked a handful of artists to tell us what they’ve got planned, who they’re psyched to see, and how they plan to make it through the madness in one piece.

This weekend, c/o pop takes over Cologne, Germany, with highlights including Kompakt’s annual label showcase and the open-air Pollwerweisen. Michael Mayer [a], Ada [a], New Young Pony Club [a], and Sascha Dive [a] share their tips for the weekend.

Ada

Have you played c/o pop before?

I played at c/o pop several times, in a different space each year. I live in Cologne but once more each year I’m surprised by the nice places it has to offer.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

One of the most interesting concerts for me is on Monday, Aufgang and Wesseltoft/Schwarz at Cologne’s Philarmonic Hall. Besides you shouldn’t miss the Cómeme label night on Thursday, Kompakt 3000 on Friday, Die Vögel and Pawel at Herr von Eden store on Saturday…

What have you planned for your set or performance?

On Wednesday I will perform with my new project Cologne Tape, consisting of Jörg Burger (the Modernist), Jens-Uwe Beyer (Popnoname [a]), Axel Willner (the Field), Daniel Ansorge (Barnt), Philipp Jantzen (von Spar), John Harten (Crato) and more. This will also be the opening night of Cologne’s new label Magazine, taking place in the beautiful dockyards in Cologne-Deutz. On Saturday I will play a DJ set in a new club called Coco Schmitz.

What festival survival tips do you have?

Solid shoes are very important, earplugs, maybe a yoga mat…

Sascha Dive

Have you played c/o pop festival before?

Yes, I played the last two years for the festival on my own label night (Deep Vibes showcase). As guests we had Johnny D [a], Robert Dietz [a] and Christian Burkhardt [a].

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

I’m only spending one night there, because afterwards I go on holiday in Spain for a week.

What have you planned for your set?

I planned nothing special, but my guest Ray Okpara [a] will do a live act.

What festival survival tips do you have?

Water!

New Young Pony Club

Have you played c/o pop Festival before?

No.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

Umm, really not sure, I’m afraid, as we are coming from another festival in Croatia. Looking forward to seeing the Chemical Brothers. Are they playing?

What have you planned for your set or performance?

A mix of dancing, rhythm, emotion and bleeding. The usual.

What festival survival tips do you have?

Stay drunk and you’ll enjoy everything that happens to you.

Michael Mayer

Have you played c/o pop Festival before?

Oh yes, I’ve played there every year so far. There’s always a big Kompakt night happening during c/o pop and naturally I’m a part of it.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

I’m definitely going to see the Cómeme crew playing at the Roxy, one of Cologne’s most mythical places. Sadly, I’m going to miss Caribou [a] as he’s playing the same night as I do. DJ Hell [a] at Pollerwiesen should be fun, too.

What have you planned for your set or performance?

The usual stuff: Starting a revolution, bending time and space, and have a little fun.

What festival survival tips do you have?

Let the Kölsch kick!
