Weekend Weapons: Tristan Garner

By justin jack

Paris’ Tristan Garner [a] first broke into the house scene in 2009 with his hit “Last Forever,” produced with his pal Norman Doray [a]. Since then he has kept climbing the ladder with releases and remixes for labels like Vicious [a], Ministry Of Sound, WePlay, and Armada [a], expertly balancing tribal and progressive house strains.

Tristan has recently launched his own imprint Xtra Life Records, a joint venture with Strictly Rhythm [l], and has already planned several big releases in the upcoming weeks. His new release,
‘Bounce’ is due out May 5, exclusively on Beatport, and is currently being supported by a range of producers including Chuckie [a], Steve Aoki, Bob Sinclar [a] and David Tort [a].

We caught up with Tristan Garner to find out the tunes that are firing up his floors.

Swiss American Federation, “Live So Free (Tristan Garner Remix)” [Red Stick Recordings]

My last remix. Beautiful vocal and a big tribal/trance atmosphere. Perfect to start my sets.

Redroche [a] & Dave Armstrong [a], “Make Your Move (Tristan Garner Remix)” [various labels by territory]

I couldn’t refuse to remix this all-time classic, and I’m really proud of this rework. Disco house is back!

Black Raw, “Eargasm (Daddy’s Groove)” [Size Records]

A must-have for all DJs! Daddy’s Groove are on fire, and this is probably their best tune at the moment.

Swanky Tunes, “Their Law” [Spinnin Records]

Another monster track from the Swanky guys. Fat and dirty, perfect for the main rooms!

Ticon, “The Glue” [Iboga Records]

A mix between progressive and tribal—get ready for a dive into the darkness!

Amy Meredith, “Young At Heart (Angger Dimas Remix)” [Musical Freedom]

Epic! A surprising return for Angger Dimas, and I love it!

Avicii, “Street Dancer (Tristan Garner Remix)” [Superstar]

New remix for my friend Avicii. A tribute to funky house and French touch with groovy basslines and ‘80s synths!
