This month, Barcelona’s Galaktika Records launches a new sublabel, Gala; first up is Paulo Olarte, a familiar face from his releases on Liebe Detail, Trenton and Diynamic. “Mil Años” is a moody, stripped-down late-night cut with a tough percussive edge and downcast vocals, splitting the difference between track and song. (Fortunately, it’s not nearly as creepy as the accompanying video.) Fans of Superpitcher’s brand of bleary-eyed pop will be all over this. Dessous/Liebe Detail vets Goldwill give the tune a dusky rework, flecked with Rhodes and guitars, that’ll sound even better in a couple months, when the autumn chill descends.
Keep reading to check out Paulo’s recent DJ mix for OnlyHouseMusic, featuring cuts from the likes of Pawas, Martin Landsky, Soylent Green, Kerri Chandler, and Earthtones’ Pete Moss.
