Brooklyn’s Creep form a part of what we can only call a goth renaissance, in which artists like Zola Jesus, Balam Acab and Holy Other are enlivening sepulchral atmospheres with elements of hip-hop, house, and bass music.
The last we heard from Creep was last summer’s “You” featuring Nina Sky (yes, the “Move Ya Body” Nina Sky), an unusually somber stab at alt-R&B that was accompanied by a remixes EP featuring Deathface, Robert Koch, Baryshnikov, Beckwith and, most notably, house legend MK (aka Marc Kinchen), one of the main inspirations behind Maya Jane Coles’ springy sound.
Now, Creep are back, this time with the indie songstress Holly Miranda behind the mic, and it might be the most absorbing thing they’ve done yet. Check out the video above, and pick up the single on Beatport here. There’s a free Modern Machine remix of the song over on RCRDLBL.com.
