Bomb Alert! Maceo Plex - Frisky

By Ken Taylor

Lovers of deep house, prepare to get frisky. Yesterday, Maceo Plex exclusively released his much-anticipated new single to Beatport via Crosstown Rebels, and it’s certified a stormer.

The A-side, ”Frisky,” is seven swelling minutes of thumping bass, a ticking hi-hat, and plenty of engulfing synth swooshes that sound great on their own, but are made even more awesome with the addition of a slinky vocal imperative to “let yourself go” helping to define the rhythm. It’s sizzling, moody, and hits all the right buttons for some late-night dancefloor friskiness.

Over on the flip, the equally suggestive ”Sex Appeal” has a similarly driving bassline, but focuses more on the vocals and a heightened sense of moving through space; something to really get heads nodding and bodies shaking. Check them both out over on Beatport, and read up on Maceo Plex’s recent appearance at our eighth-anniversary party in Berlin.
