Ricardo Villalobos is lauded by many as one of the most important producers of our modern generation, from his 2003 album Alcachofa through to his uniquely crafted Fabric compilation, which was comprised of all his own tracks made specifically for that venue.
He and fellow Perlon cohort Zip have been insistent on never releasing their content digitally, citing their attention to audio fidelity as their main justification for their choice. That’s why if you want Villalobos’ latest offering, Dependent and Happy, you’ll have to purchase it on 12″, with a CD in the pipeline.
However, NPR is giving you lucky people the chance to stream the record online now right here. Have a listen and let us know if you thought it was worth the wait. We certainly think it is.
