With their 10th anniversary on the way, and an already impeccable reputation for fueling clubs across the globe, Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records imprint was unlikely to be playing any half-hearted cards en route to 2013. Already a label stalwart, courtesy of his forward-thinking approach to progressive house, Sweden’s Capa drops a sure sign of the energy ahead with firm debut label single “Chances.”

At a time when the term “progressive house” is debated considerably, the Scandinavian producer plays it close to home. Rife with euphoric synth lines and ascending melodic progressions, “Chances” proves an inoffensively poised offering from outside of the more obvious comfort zones currently found amid the scene. Given the stereotypes more often associated with his home nation of Sweden, Capa’s latest release offers a breath of fresh air that is sure to stir some positive energy at the outset of a pivotal year for artist and label alike.
