They’ve just settled into Mexico for Playa Del Carmen’s BPM Festival, but Glasgow’s Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are busy gearing up for a series of dates in the US this week, which will see them hit San Francisco tomorrow, with Denver, New York, and Chicago to follow.

“We’re really excited about all four cities we are getting to on this tour, which is our first for 10 years,” says McMillan. “We haven’t been to Denver before and we hear great things about the Roots parties and we also have a few days off there to get in the studio with H-Foundation—and that’s definitely appealing to us.

“We have not been to San Francisco or New York for many, many moons and we are itching to get back to both of those cities which have always been favorites. And we have a night off before we play in Chicago so we will be hopefully hooking up with a few friends like Derrick Carter in the home of house music!” he continues.

So what should fans expect on this latest whirlwind tour? “We have been making a lot of tracks lately, and the DJ sets are where we road test them,” McMillan adds. “A couple of biggies that nobody will have heard before are our new remix of Envoy’s Soma classic ‘Dark Manoeuvres’ and our collaboration with Pan-Pot, entitled ‘Media,’ forthcoming on our Paragraph label.”

This tour will also see them teaming up with H-Foundation (aka Halo and Hipp-e). “We love getting a chance to play deep, too, so working with Halo and Hipp-e gives us a lot of choices of which direction to take the music, from house and tech-house through to techno during the course of the night,” he says.

So look forward to plenty of excitement over the next few days, and if you’re unable to hit up one of the select gigs, Slam promise they’ve got more in store this year, including another addition to their Alliances series.
