Prepare to "Move Your Body" with Oliver's Mechanical

By Michelle Kuppersmith
Oliver

LA-based production/DJ duo Oliver is comprised of ’80s babies U-Tern and Oligee, who take their youthful musical influences straight with them to the studio. Their new EP, Mechanical, pushes an innovative sound that embodies the pair’s tendency to dally across a plethora of genres, moving from deep house to electronica and indie dance with ease in the course of its four tracks. In fact, it’s already won rave reviews in the social-media realm and, naturally, has been supported by Fool’s Gold label boss A-Trak on his latest radio show.

The EP’s opening track, “MYB,” which can only be an acronym for “move your body” given the lyrics, does just that as it brings the funk and indie vibes through its carefully synthesized beats and catchy hooks. The super-groovy nature of the tracks will make the EP a must-have for any DJs looking to bring the funk to their arsenal going into 2013.
