It’s that awesome time again when we get to announce the newest batch of winners on Beatport Play. First up, in Stacey Pullen’s/Black Odyssey’s “Sweat” contest, is winner Loquace (aka Loic Castagnet), who scored a Point Blank Pro Producer Course, a Sounds To Sample Elements library, and an official release on Pullen’s own Blackflag Recordings label. Check out his winning submission here.
Each month we faithfully bring you a slew of amazing remix and production contests over on Beatport Play. And today, like always, we’re happy to announce the winners of the last batch of competitions. First up, acid-house legend Mr. C (aka Richard West) tells us about the winners of his Producer Challenge.
Santa Barbara producers Candyland first came onto our radar early last year when they took top honors in our Play contest featuring Bingo Players’ “Rattle,” which itself became a massive chart success for the always on-it Spinnin’ Records. Then in November Candyland scored another huge Play win with Skrillex feat. Damian Marley’s “Make It Bun Dem” remix contest. Not bad for having only started producing in 2011.
As you know, each month we present a series of awesome remix contests along with our favorite artists on Beatport Play. And today we’re proud to launch a whole new set of competitions, featuring Max Cooper, Art Department, Stacey Pullen, Bombs Away, and Lazy Rich. Read on to see what amazing prizes we have up for grabs in the weeks to come.
Second-wave Detroit techno icon and Blackflag Recordings CEO Stacey Pullen had a banner year in 2012. The itinerant DJ and producer not only put up big gigs all around the world last year—including Detroit’s always-stellar Movement Festival, where we spoke with him—but kept his Blackflag release schedule running at full tilt, with offerings from Nathan Barato, Sergio Fernandez, Tony Dee, and his own “Circus Act.”
This week, however, things got even busier for the Detroit native when he released his track “Sweat” (originally recorded under his Black Odyssey guise) and made its parts available for a new Beatport Play remix contest.
What a better way to kick off the new year than to announce the winners of Beatport Play’s latest round of contests. Sam Sparro, Seven Lions, Lindstrøm, Freq Nasty, and DJ Dan have all picked the victors of their remix competitions, so check out the winning submissions after the jump.
Yes, it’s that time again, when the changing of the guard goes down over on Beatport Play. With a handful of new contests on their way shortly, it’s time to acknowledge the winners of our latest set of challenges from A-Trak & Zinc, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Boys Noize, PeaceTreaty, and Guy Gerber (pictured above), the latter of whom even shares a bit insight into how he chose the winning remix of his track “Steady” (spoiler alert: He was really impressed with your submissions).
