For the uninitiated, The NAMM Show is one of the musical instrument industry’s biggest events. Like the annual North American International Auto Show in Detroit, NAMM (short for the National Association of Music Merchants) is a tradeshow where manufacturers from around the world debut the latest tech toys and musical instruments to literally tens of thousands of attendees—think Winter Music Conference but for production tools, and you have the general idea.

Pioneer unveils two new entertainment players

Pioneer revealed today at NAMM two new pieces of DJ gear.

The first is the MEP-7000, described as a “Professional Multi-Entertainment Player” picks up where the CDJ-series players left off.

In addition to the standard digital disc playback (such as CD and DVD), there is now an option for playback of digital files from various media formats.

The easily transportable system also has a pre-programmed playback option.

With less than a week to go until The NAMM Show, we’ve unleashed the Beatport Bloodhounds to sniff out pre-show tips and tidbits.

Naturally, there’s a high degree of secrecy surrounding every new product release – especially at NAMM.

Fortunately for our readers, we’ve heard some whispers and whatnot that gets our spider-sense tingling.
