There’s no denying it that Diplo (aka Wesley Pentz), the Grammy-nominated producer, remixer, and and head honcho of Mad Decent Records, is one of the hardest-working men in the music business. Through unending curiosity and exploration of the world’s vast musical heritages in Jamaica, Africa, the US, and beyond, Diplo has a knack for seamlessly connecting the dots between the global underground and the commercial music mainstream. And in connecting those dots, he's racked up production credits for MIA, Santigold, Drake, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars, among many others.

There's a lot of chatter lately about lazer cutters and 3D printers—heck, you can make a gun with them, for god's sake! But there's of course much safer fun to be had with new technology, and one such example is the awesome experiments being done by Amanda Ghassaei, who 3D-printed a record last year and who has now lazer-cut one of our wood.

From investment banking to underground taste-making, Tronic Records head honcho and club veteran Christian Smith has traveled the globe with unprecedented musical stamina. With a catalog of Beatport chart-toppers under his belt and a long-standing reputation for making cutting-edge music, his attempts to play past the pigeonhole of techno has made him a tough artist to box, but all the more fascinating, naturally.

Having recently reeled out the label's 100th release and dropped his second full-length artist album, Omakase, there was never a better time for Beatport News to quiz the Swedish producer/DJ on his new record and numerous goings-on.

It certainly is not a stretch to describe Andreas Tilliander as an innovative producer. Operating under a number of different aliases across his long career, the Swedish artist penned some of the most seminal records in the rise of glitch-techno for labels such as Raster-Noton and Mille Plateaux. Tilliander has continued to push the envelope as a forward-thinking producer, most recently issuing icy, hardware-driven live techno under his TM404 alias. With TM404's self-titled LP of techno lattices still giving us chills after dropping in April, we decided it was time to take a peek under the hood to see just what Tilliander utilizes to craft his unique brand of techno. Turns out it's all the magic of the classic Roland TB-303.
