Brixton-by-way-of-Nottingham producer Citizen can bash out deep house with the best of them, so much so that he’s become something of an up-and-coming star on legend Kerri Chandler’s MadTech label, which released last year’s Deep End EP and just put out his remix of Waze & Oddysey’s “Be Right There.” More recently, though, Citizen dropped his latest EP, Trax, on the newish Love Fever label, which finds him going deeper still. See how deep he goes in his sets with his choice Weekend Weapons below.

This is a modern classic and always goes down a treat, especially in warehouses. Absolute pleasure to mix under vocals also.

It has this great rising sound to it and swelling bass, and the vocal snippets cut deep into the soul. Lovely lads, too.

This one’s been doing its thing in the club, with love from Skream and Benga and the Horsemeat Disco lot. Absolute pleasure to make this already-amazing track a little bit lopsided and dark.

Showing no signs of aging, this is a staple in my sets and has a legendary drop and vocal cut.

Those strings!

Infectious bass modulation and that signature Samuel Deep garage swing has this tune in my sets on the regular.

I just love everything this guy has been releasing, but this one really does it for me. Insane programming and syncopation everywhere—a lot of messy nights have begun with this tune.
