As you know, each month we present a series of awesome remix contests along with our favorite artists on Beatport Play. And today we’re proud to launch a whole new set of competitions, featuring Max Cooper, Art Department, Stacey Pullen, Bombs Away, and Lazy Rich.

Starting off the month is Detroit techno legend Stacey Pullen, who not only gave us the parts to his incredible “Sweat” track (originally recorded in 1997 as Black Odyssey), but actually re-recorded them specifically for this contest.

“After years of buying and selling new and used gear, it was a challenge for me to basically reproduce and recreate the stems for ‘Sweat,’” Pullen told us. Nevertheless, he went into the studio and out came the new parts for the track. Read more about the process he underwent to deliver this track into your hands here, and then make sure to bust out your best remix to win a Point Blank Pro Producer Course, a Sounds To Sample Elements library, and an official release of your tune on Pullen’s own Blackflag Recordings label.

British techno experimenter Max Cooper recently took his compositions further down the rabbit-hole by collaborating with Canadian art rockers Braids for “Pleasures.” Of course, taking top honors in this contest will net you a few pleasures of your own, including having your remix put out by Fields, plus a copy of Native Instruments’ Komplete 8, Liine’s Lemur for iPad app, Cytomic’s The Glue and The Drop plugins, and the Sounds To Sample Elements library.

Toronto’s Art Department are also in on all the Play action this month with their own contest for their track “Robot Heart.” Take a whack at this deep-houser and you may find yourself in the company of a $1000 Plugin Alliance voucher, the Sounds To Sample Elements soundpack, and a contract for an official release on No.19 Records.

Bombs Away’s “Party Bass” is the next such track to get Play shakin’ this month, and its prize lot includes a copy of iZotope Trash, $100 voucher for StyleFlip, the Sounds To Sample Elements library, and an official release on Central Station Records.

And last but not least, prove victorious in Lazy Rich & Hirshee’s “Damage Control” competition, and you’ll take home a one-year Label Engine subscription, a pair of Label Engine V-Moda headphones, an autographed t-shirt, a spot on Big Fish Recordings’ promo list, an actual release on the label, and the Sounds To Sample Elements pack.

So hop to it, as all entries must be uploaded to Play by February 4th for consideration.
