Last week was a big week for techno, for sure. But with a new LP from Omar S and an EP from Redshape, this week’s no slouch either. See what else catches the ears of our team of merchandisers and editors in today’s On Rotation segment.

Ohhhh, dammmmn. An Omar S LP is not something you see in your mailbox everyday, so today, as Cube might say, was a good day. The Detroit house and techno master has pulled out all the stops for this 16-track monster, entitled Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself (a clear nod to Sly & The Family Stone), and for every icy synth or drum there’s a hot-as-hell housey piano. A true legend who walks among us, that Omar S—god bless that man.

Gotta love Kromestar, especially when he gets this groovy. This one comes off of his own Nebula Music Group label and has that head-nod, hip-hop feel. “Atari Wave” goes to show how magnificent Kromestar is at keeping up with sounds and being able to adapt to any new style he conceives.
