We’re always excited to bring you the winners of our monthly Play remix contests, and today we’ve got a handful of victorious contestants from August’s competition to tell you about.

First up, Lennox Hortale and Marcio Vermelho are the proud recipients of a release on Caus-N-FF-CT for their winning remix of Giorgio Moroder’s classic “From Here To Eternity.”

“Our reinterpretation of ‘From Here To Eternity’ explores the essence and esthetics of the original music within the context of house and disco music,” says Hortale. “We created elements that help define this new direction, such as the bass and drums, and we produced a new arrangement in line with our approach, keeping the heart of Moroder’s creation while renewing it for today’s dancefloors.” Of their win, Hortale said, “It feels like a trophy that you put in your bedroom.” They’ll also snag a Sounds 2 Sample Elements library and a $100 voucher for StyleFlip.com.

Czech entrant Kim Pixa took the gold in Marc Romboy’s and Ken Ishii’s contest for “Taiyo.” He had this to say about how he approached the track: “‘Taiyo’ is a very huge track, so I decided make it deeper. I listened to the samples for two days and then I got an idea to take the motif of the bassline and make new melodies from the synths. The beats, hits, claps, snares, and effects are my own secret weapons.” For his win, Pixa snags a Sounds 2 Sample Elements library, a Point Blank production course and gets his remix officially released by Systematic Recordings.

Taking home an iKlip Studio desktop stand for iPad, a DJ Rig app for iRig Mix, a Sounds To Sample Elements library, and an Ultra Records release is Butch Clancy, for his winning entry in Zeds Dead’s “Cowboy” contest.

And rounding out last month’s competitions, Zefrukt comes through in first place in Cutty Ranks’ “Full Blast” contest, which nets the remixer the FXPansion BFD2 and Expansion Pack, the Sounds To Sample Elements pack, and an official remix release on Philip Music.

So there you have ’em. Congratulations to all of this month’s winners, and make sure to head over to Play for the current crop of remix contests up for submission.
