Back in June, John Digweed and Bedrock announced the “Structures” DJ Mix Competition; you mixed, and they listened—”they” being an all-star jury comprised of Oliver Lieb, Nick Muir, Gavin Kingsley (King Unique), Robert Babicz, and Digweed himself.
Now, they’ve gotten back to us with their picks. Read on to find out who won!
Halifax’s Sean Keating featured in the top three of all the judges’ votes, nabbing the top spot in more than one. Digweed says, “A very solid, mature mix that flows from start to finish and programs the music really well.”
In recognition of his win, Sean will have his mix played on Digweed’s hugely popular Transitions radio show on August 26—and has the chance to submit an additional 30-minute mix, giving him a full hour of playing time on the show. Not bad! As if that weren’t recognition enough, Sean also takes home a copy of Ableton Live 8 Suite along with Novation’s Launchpad & ZeRO SLMKII combo.
Also from Canada, DJ Allegro was named first runner-up with his mix. Says Digweed, “Another favourite with the judges, a full-on energetic mix that pumps from start to finish. Good mixing and track selection.”
In recognition, Allegro will receive Ableton Live Intro plus limited-edition Bedrock merchandise, exclusive promo content and a Beatport gift card.
The third-place prize goes to London’s Gillactico, who also takes home Ableton Live Intro plus limited-edition Bedrock merchandise, exclusive promo content and a Beatport gift card. Gillactico’s mix “received great feedback and comments from the judges,” says Digweed. “Another solid mix that builds well over 30 minutes and keeps you interested from start to finish.
Finally, the well-known DJ/producer Darin Epsilon takes the third runner-up position. His mix, says Digweed, “also received a lot of good comments and feedback from the judges, with a good use of tracks and mixing skills.” Darin also takes home Ableton Live Intro plus limited-edition Bedrock merchandise, exclusive promo content and a Beatport gift card.
Congratulations to all four winners, and thanks to everyone who participated!
